History
Liberty Mountain was developed in the 1960s, originally named Charnita after developer Charles G. and his wife Anita Rist. The family went bankrupt in 1970 after the Tri-County Citizens Committee's efforts "to prevent continued growth of the Charnita ski area" succeeded. Irv Naylor, owner of Snow Time, Inc. bought Charnita (renamed to Ski Liberty) in 1974. Boulder Ridge Snow Tubing was added to Liberty in 2003, the resort purchased Carroll Valley Golf Course in 2010 and built the Highland Lodge in 2015.
